The "Golden Rules" for Maintaining Men's Health: From WHO Standards to Five Core Lifestyle Repairs [i]
The World Health Organization has proposed ten standards for male health: (1) having abundant energy, being able to calmly bear daily life and heavy labor, and not feeling excessive fatigue and tension; (2) being optimistic, having a positive attitude, being willing to take responsibility, and not being picky about things, big or small; (3) being good at resting and sleeping well; (4) having strong adaptability and being able to adapt to various changes in the external environment; (5) being able to resist common colds and infectious diseases; (6) having appropriate weight, a well-proportioned body, and coordinated head, shoulder, and hip positions when standing; (7) having bright eyes, quick reflexes, and no eyelid inflammation; (8) having clean teeth, no gum pain, normal gum color, and no bleeding; (9) having shiny hair and no dandruff; (10) having full muscles and elastic skin [i]. After comparing, if you do not meet the above standards, then you should put down your busy work and "take care" of your health [i]. 1. Change unhealthy lifestyle [i]. Unhealthy lifestyles are a major cause of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer, and the mortality rate from these chronic diseases is twice that of all acute infectious diseases combined [i]. Smoking, lack of exercise and obesity are the main culprits of chronic diseases [i]. We need to pay enough attention to the harm of unhealthy lifestyles. If you don’t consciously change them, no one can help you! Start from small things! In response to these situations, health experts have prescribed a “prescription”: (1) Avoid excessive drinking and it is best to quit smoking; (2) Pay attention to a balanced diet and consume appropriate amounts of vitamins, minerals or beneficial active substances; (3) Strive for a regular life and ensure sufficient sleep; (4) Persist in daily continuous and appropriate physical exercise; (5) Let go of work when you can and avoid excessive worry [i]. In fact, it is not very difficult to stay away from the edge of health. It just depends on whether we are willing to change our bad habits and establish a scientific lifestyle [i]. 2. Nourishment should be done slowly and steadily [i]. Chronic fatigue syndrome is seriously troubling middle-aged and even young men. Nourishing the body through nutritional supplementation is essential [i]. Approaching middle age, physical health declines, making the prevention and treatment of various chronic diseases a top priority for nutritional supplementation at this stage. A diverse diet is essential, with grains as the staple, and plenty of vegetables, fruits, and tubers. Regular consumption of legumes and dairy products, along with appropriate amounts of fish, eggs, and lean meat[i]. 3. Drinking plenty of water can flush away "stones" in the body[i]. Due to busy work schedules, many men neglect to drink water during work hours, and some have even developed a habit of not drinking water at work. Combined with a lack of exercise, this leads to a relatively high incidence of kidney stones[i]. As the saying goes, running water doesn't stagnate, and this also applies to the human urinary system[i]. After water is absorbed, it is excreted through the kidneys. Urine not only excretes waste products but also uses physical force to flush away micro-stones, preventing them from forming, and flushes away bacteria that may be forming, preventing infection[i]. Therefore, it is clear that men must pay attention to drinking water regularly[i]. 4. Breakfast is essential; fruit juice, milk, fruit, and eggs are all important.[i] Because mornings are often rushed and there's no time to prepare breakfast, some people simply skip it and go to work on an empty stomach.[i] However, skipping breakfast can lead to lethargy and affect gastric acid secretion and bile excretion, weakening the digestive system and potentially causing gastritis, gallstones, and other diseases.[i] It can also lower the body's resistance, making one more susceptible to colds and cardiovascular diseases.[i] Breakfast should ideally consist of high-carbohydrate and low-fat foods such as porridge, oatmeal, and bread. A glass of milk with oatmeal is a good choice.[i] 5. Obesity can trigger various diseases, so weight control is crucial.[i] Obesity can cause high cholesterol, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease, diabetes, fatty liver, and can also cause psychological problems.[i] Obesity can also cause some lesser-known conditions.[i] It can easily lead to hyperlipidemia-related arthritis, diabetes, and affect sexual function, leading to sexual decline.[i] Therefore, obese men must lose weight! Smart men should learn to take responsibility for their health, rather than waiting until their health deteriorates before trying to remedy it, because health is like a work of art-easy to damage, but difficult to repair.[i]
